Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Metovix ("the Service", "we", "our", "us") at any URL or application interface operated by us, you ("User", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you must not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including users on free plans, paid subscribers, and trial users. Use of the Service constitutes acceptance of these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.
Description of Service
Metovix is a browser-based statistical analysis platform designed to assist researchers in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The Service provides tools for data entry, statistical computation, forest plot generation, heterogeneity analysis, publication bias assessment, and network meta-analysis.
Metovix is a software tool, not a professional statistical consulting service. The Service does not provide medical advice, clinical recommendations, or professional statistical opinions. All analytical outputs are provided for informational and research purposes only. Users are solely responsible for the interpretation, validation, and application of results generated by the Service.
Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and that the information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- One Account Per User: You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limitations or access restrictions.
- Accurate Information: You must provide a valid email address and keep your account information up to date.
- No Account Sharing: Account credentials may not be shared with or transferred to any other individual or organisation.
Permitted Use
Subject to these Terms, Metovix grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal or internal organisational research purposes, in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.
Permitted uses include:
- Conducting meta-analyses and systematic reviews for academic or research purposes
- Generating statistical outputs, forest plots, and reports for inclusion in research publications
- Using the Service for educational or training purposes related to systematic review methodology
- Exporting results for use in manuscripts, theses, or institutional reports
Prohibited Use
You agree not to use the Service in any of the following ways:
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract the source code of the Service
- Using automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to access the Service
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
- Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially redistributing access to the Service without written authorisation
- Using the Service to process data in violation of applicable privacy laws or third-party rights
- Misrepresenting results generated by the Service or presenting them as outputs of a different software tool
- Circumventing any usage limits, access controls, or security features of the Service
Subscription & Payments
Metovix offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis as selected at the time of purchase. All prices are listed in US Dollars unless otherwise stated.
- Billing Cycle: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 14 days' notice. Continued use after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
- Payment Method: You authorise us to charge your payment method on file for all applicable fees.
- Failed Payments: If a payment fails, we may suspend your access to paid features until payment is resolved.
- Taxes: You are responsible for any applicable taxes on your subscription fees.
Refund Policy
We encourage all users to take full advantage of the free plan to evaluate the Service before upgrading to a paid subscription. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to evaluate the Service and agree that no refund will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Change of mind or no longer needing the Service
- Dissatisfaction with features or outputs
- Accidental purchase or subscription renewal
- Failure to cancel before a renewal date
- Technical issues on the user's device or network
In the event of a verified billing error on our part (such as being charged twice for the same period), please contact us within 30 days and we will investigate and correct the error.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including all software, algorithms, formulas, visual design, documentation, and content, is the intellectual property of Metovix and its licensors, protected by copyright, trade secret, and other applicable laws.
Your Data: You retain full ownership of the research data you input into the Service. By using the Service, you grant Metovix a limited licence to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your research data.
Output Ownership: Statistical outputs, forest plots, and reports generated by the Service from your data are yours to use in your research, publications, and reports, provided you comply with these Terms.
Data & Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Metovix is designed to operate primarily in your browser. Research data you enter is processed locally where possible and is not permanently stored on our servers unless you use cloud save or synchronisation features. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY OF STATISTICAL OUTPUTS, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from bugs, viruses, or other harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any statistical output for any specific research purpose.
Statistical methods in Metovix are implemented based on published literature and validated against R metafor. However, we make no representation that outputs are equivalent to those of any other software, or that they are appropriate for any specific regulatory, clinical, or publication standard.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, METOVIX AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF RESEARCH, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR REPUTATIONAL HARM, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Metovix, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights; or (c) any content or data you submit to the Service that infringes any third-party rights.
Termination
You may cancel your account at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refund is issued for the remaining period.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction, as required by applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending an email notification to the address associated with your account.
Your continued use of the Service after any change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
